Zagato 575 GTZ: An Unique Car Built for a Car Collector - RSportsCars.com
In the classic tradition of the keen purchaser of exclusive cars who stimulated the creativeness of Italian coachbuilders in the 1950s and 1960s, Yushiyuki Hayashi asked Zagato if it would be possible to create a body for his 575M, in the style of the famous 250GTZ berlinetta.
Like its forebear, the 575 GTZ has an all-aluminum body, and, as a tribute to Ferrari and to two-seater Italian sports cars, it has joined the exclusive group of cars that are the fruit of the tradition of custom-built cars.
The new 575 GTZ has the Ferrari prancing horse on its bonnet and the Z of Zagato on its side, an expression of eternal Italian excellence in its form and content.

 Ferrari 348 Zagato Elaborazione
Due to legislative restrictions on crashworthiness, Zagato weren't able to modify the engine, running gear or chassis of the stock 348, so they instead focused solely on the aesthetics.
A re-working rather than a traditional re-body meant Zagato's creation came to be known as the Elaborazione.
Zagato could never have retained those heavily stylised engine vents from the stock 348 that were such an obvious Pininfarina trademark, the Milanese designers blending two substantial NACA ducts into the doors to help cool the engine.

Their respective companies had worked together in the past, most notably to produce the beautiful DB4 GT Zagato of 1962, and then the rather less beautiful V8 Vantage and Volant models of the mid-'80s.
The idea of this car was, like the original DB4 and DB4 GT Zagato, for the DB7 and the DB7 Zagato to have a relationship in design.
So you couldn't go off in some futuristic direction." So the beautifully-executed DB7 Zagato just about stays the right side of that delicate line between alluding to the past and retro pastiche, and between looking a bit like the DB7 it was derived from, but not too much so.
