On Sheikh Zahid's death, Safi al-Din assumed leadership and gradually attracted many more adherents, largely through his policy of hospitality to all who sought refuge.
He was influenced by mystics of the Sufi order and by Sheikh Zahid, a religious leader whose daughter he eventually married.
The poem Gunga Din by English author Rudyard Kipling was published in 1892 in the collection Barrack-Room Ballads.

Safi al Din Ishaq was borned in a sunnit family (probably Kurdish), in 1252, and he died in 1334.
The bortherhood was consolidated and organized by his son Sadr al Din Musa (1334-1391) and it flourished when its gained the favours of great sovereigns like or Uzun Hasan.

Also, in these camps, Sayyaf trained and mentored the soon-to-be-infamous, Kuwaiti-born, future Al-Qaeda operative and senior commander, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, after being introduced by the latter's brother, Zahid, during the Afghan Jihad in 1987.
Sayyaf was a member of the Afghan branch of the Ikhwan-al-Muslimeen, along with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Dr.
Before the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December, 1979, Sayyaf spent time in prison, being imprisoned by the Communist PDPA in April, 1978, and being freed in controversial circumstances by the second PDPA leader Hafizullah Amin, who, coincidentally, happened to be Sayyaf's distant relative.

Aziz Mahmud Hudayi was amongst the most famous of all Ottoman Sufi's being the Sheikh of Sultan Ahmed III who constucted the famous Blue Mosque.
The two orders split however with Pir Zahid al-Gilani where the Jelveti order then goes on to Hajji Bayram and Aziz Mahmud Hudayi.
The Jelveti order was not a very widespread order and did not extend much further than the borders of modern Turkey having a number of Tekke's in the Balkans.
