 | | Lusaka, Zambia, 02/19 - The Zambian kwacha, still maintaining its strong position against the US dollar, Thursday traded between 3,300 and 3,250 units to the greenback, while most players opted to trade on a matching basis. |
 | | The trend, however, is believed by most experts to be for a weakening kwacha, with the Citibank Treasury officials observing that the currency had opened the week at K3,250/K3,300 against the dollar, and this represented a marginal depreciation that allowed it to close Tuesday at K3,300 per dollar (buying) and K3,350 per dollar (selling). |
 | | "Our view is that given the current market fundamentals and the central bank`s need to maintain a tight monetary policy, the kwacha bulls will continue to dominate the market with occasion bouts of US Dollar rallies supported mainly by mismatches in the demand and supply dynamics," Mate observed. |
