Zamboanga del Sur is a province of the Philippines located in the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao.
Its capital is Ipil[?] and it borders Zamboanga del Norte to the north, Zamboanga del Sur to the east and Zamboanga City to the southwest.
Zamboanga Sibugay is the newest province in the Philippines, created in 2001, when the third district of Zamboanga del Sur split off.

ZAMBOANGA CITY-The men who killed Moises Araham, mayor of Payao town, Zamboanga Sibugay province belong to the former Muslims separatist Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Southern Command Chief Lieutenant General Roy Kyamko said Friday.
Kyamko said the military and the police were inviting MNLF leaders in the province to shed light on the alleged participation of some of their men in the assassination of Araham.
Zamboanga Sibugay police chief Raul Gomez, told the Inquirer that Araham's group was moving towards two pump boats to check on the activities of the passengers in the boats when they were fired upon.

The mayor said if the training would be held in Zamboanga, it would provide the qualified athletes experience in conditions and facilities comparable to the facilities to be used in Iloilo City.
A total of 121 of the 252 qualified athletes for the Palaro are from Zamboanga while the remaining are from the other school divisions in the region, thus, training in Ipil will entail higher travel expenses, he pointed out.
