Zamzam’s main market, however, remains the home market in Iran where it competes for the soft drink crown with the more pricey Coca Cola, imported from Dubai, and “Noushab”, the former official partner of Coca Cola in Iran before the two firms became bogged down in legal disputes.
Zamzam also produces 300 million bottles of non-alcoholic “Islamic beer” annually, in a country where consumption of alcohol is forbidden and carries the punishment of a public lashing.

And I wish more and more people would actually start businesses like this in which the aim is not to suck as much money as possible out of people but to give back to the community and help the needy and the suffering.
When I was living in Pakistan for this spring, a nearby store sold Mecca-Cola and I always bought some, to serve to guests, for parties, etc. It wasn't bad, in fact I really liked it, and I liked the idea of corporate responsibility and charity.
That said, there's Zamzam cola, which is really popular.

Some sad news I got off DeenPort this morning is that Qibla Cola, a Muslim competitor to the major cola brands, has gone into receivership.
After a truckload of Mecca Cola was given away for free in Hyde Park during a rally, I asked every Muslim grocery on the Edgware Road if they stocked it, and none did.
As for Qibla Cola, I saw it in one Indian take-away in the Golborne Road, W10, for a while, then stocks ran out and they weren't replenished (and then the take-away closed and the site was taken over by the Moroccan Grill).
