Suppiluliuma I - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His success encouraged the widow of the Egyptian king Nibhuruyiras (usually identified with Akhenaten or his father, Amenhotep III) to write to him, asking him to send one of his sons to be her husband, and rule Egypt.
Suppliluliuma sent an ambassador to investigate, who reported that the situation was accurately described, and the king decided to take advantage of this windfall; unfortunately, Prince Zannanza died on the way, and the marriage alliance never was consummated.
Suppiluliuma also crushed the independent Mitanni kingdom, reducing it to a client state under his son-in-law Shattiwazza; and rebuilt the Hittite capital at Hattusas.

 The Armies Deploy
It was noted that both Urhiteshub and Zannanza placed themselves in the second line of squadrons, a cowardly place for a general.
Tarkondemos's plan was to rely on the ambushes to pin his opponent back and reduce his room for manoeuvre allowing Urhiteshub and Zannanza to attack with the wing divisions at the most advantageous position.
On the opposite flank Zannanza began a slow advance to pin the troops opposite him into as confined a space as possible and cut down their room for manoeuvre.

Tutankhamun and the Daughter of Ra (sampler)
Zannanza had broad gold bracelets on his upper arms studded with river-worn garnets, no necklace at his throat, but heavy rings on two of his fingers.
She intercepted a look that passed between the two elder Hittite princes once when Zannanza was telling her how much he was hoping to train for the priesthood and leave the court of his father.
Zannanza was backed against a rock, white with fear, his small iron dagger held out in front of him ready to plunge it in to his attacker if need be.

BBC - History - The End of the Amarna Period
They tell us that the widow of a king of Egypt wrote to the Hittite king Suppiluliuma to ask for the hand of one of his sons in marriage.
After much prevarication, Suppiluliuma sent his son Zannanza to Egypt, where he was assassinated, according to the Hittites.
The absence of a birth name, the lack of an Egyptian of appropriate rank and the clues in the Hittite archives allow us to conjecture that Smenkhkhare might in fact be the Hittite prince Zannanza.

After initial scepticism, the Hittite monarch eventually sent a Prince Zannanza to Egypt to marry Tut's widow.

The identity of the Egyptian queen is unproven; Ankhesenamen seems to fit best.
The name of the Hittite prince, Zannanza, is speculative: A tablet in bad shape has been found on which Suppililiuma laments the murder of a person named Zannanza, but no mention is made that this is his son.
The cause of death of the Hittite prince is also open to doubt: The Egyptians just acknowledge his death, while the Hittites speak of killing, but even they don't claim to know what happened.
