The character actress ZaSu Pitts was born in Parsons, Kansas on January 3rd, 1894.
ZaSu also filmed the part of the mother in the anti-war film classic "All Quiet On The Western Front" (1930), but after audiences laughed in preview at the sight of her on screen, the film was revamped, and her scenes played by Beryl Mercer instead.
ZaSu Pitts, as befits her splendid work on the silver sheet, is now being starred by Robertson-Cole and the reception her pictures "The Other Half" and "Poor Relations" have received prove her popularity.

According to her own account, actress ZaSu Pitts was given her curious cognomen because she was named for two aunts, Eliza and Susan.
Established as a top character comedian by the '30s (her oft-imitated catchphrase was "Oh, dear, oh my!"), Pitts co-starred with Thelma Todd in a series of Hal Roach two-reelers, was top-billed in such feature programmers as Out All Night (1933) and The Plot Thickens (1935), and showed up in select character roles in A-pictures.
ZaSu Pitts died in 1963, shortly after completing her final film appearance in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and just a few days after her last TV guest assignment on Burke's Law.

PARSONS - ZaSu2, the second annual film festival celebrating the life and career of Parsons native and noted actress ZaSu Pitts, will be Friday and Saturday on the campus of Labette Community College in Parsons.
Along with special viewings of several ZaSu Pitts films and episodes from a television show in which she starred, the festival features some special memorabilia from ZaSu's career and candy from her cookbook.
Returning this year is University of Kansas film scholar, John Tibbetts, who on Friday evening will discuss director Erich Von Stroheim, ZaSu Pitts and the silent film era.
