		Zayre started in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1956 as a discount department store It was initially focused on the Northeast but soon expanded to other areas.
		After the sale of the Zayre chain to Ames, the company changed its name to TJX Companies, which is still in business today.

		Zayre along with Kmart was our first choice when we went shopping in the U.S. in the 80's.
		In their last decade, Zayre began to be synonymous of low class and low quality, lost market share to Wal-Mart, Ames and other chains.
