He found a spot where a road had been cut through some of the whitish material and where the fresh cut was, the freshly exposed interior of the material displayed a layering effect which swirled in such a manner as to make it obvious that these weren't the usual geological layers.
The Biblical account tells that Lot and his daughters were allowed to flee to Zoar in order to escape the impending destruction.
The Biblical record reveals that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed just 24 years after Abraham left Haran, which is within 150 miles of ancient Ebla.

Archaeology is proving Holy Bible is accurate historical record
Biblical Archaeology began after publication by Edward Robinson (American professor of Biblical literature; 1794-1863) of his travels through Israel during the first half of the 19th century (a time when the oldest complete Hebrew scripture only dated to the Middle Ages), which highlighted similarities between modern Arabic place-names and Biblical city names.
The highlight of this period was Warren's work around the Temple Mount of Jerusalem, where he discovered the foundation stones of Herod's Temple, the first Israelite inscriptions on several jar handles with LMLK seals, and water shafts (probably pre-Israelite) under the City of David.
Biblical Archeological Milestones After World War II The Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient copies of the Bible manuscripts do not qualify as artifacts representing something mentioned in the Bible, although they are an important testimony to the antiquity of the texts, and the reliable manner in which they were preserved through the centuries.

The Discovery by Ron Wyatt of Sodom and Gomorrah written by Mary Nell Wyatt
GEN 10:19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
In viewing a map, it seemed strange that Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim would each be listed if they were all in the same general location, at the south end of the Dead Sea.
Ron's description of the location of the sites he had found were, indeed, scattered over a distance of over 50 or more miles, a concept that seemed pretty fantastic at first.

The Biblical account tells of a conflagration in which balls of brimstone (sulfur) rained down from heaven (the atmosphere), completely burning the cities up.
Further study into combustion got extremely complicated—much too much to get into here—but indicated that the event of the destruction of these cities was the result of a carefully controlled chemical reaction that took place VERY rapidly, yet maintained an equilibrium that didn't result in an explosion.

However, in the Biblical Sense, many of these geographical racial groups would either be in different categories than the ones described.
Biblical classification of race has less to do with skin color, hair color, and eye color as it is to do with language families.
Notice that the biblical races written thousands of years ago in the Old Testament are those that belong to the same language families as classified today.

The reason of the conscious use of earlier texts in any culture is that the author of the 'later' text has a special interest in the 'former' one(s), owing to its content, the person o f its author, or the tradition represented in the earlier text.
Considering the proportions of the extent of the narrative of the present text and that of the biblical text which served as a basis for the narrative of t he Genesis Apocryphon one can conlude that the Noah-narrative was probably the beginning of the pericopae.
Such bias are to make the biblical text more logic, and to portrait the characters (to present Abraham and Sarah in a better light, and Pharaoh in a worse one from those depicted in the Genesis).

The purpose of this social science is to establish the historical accuracy of Biblical texts, and to address the supposition that these books were basically myths or fictitious history composed by Jews exiled in Babylon during the 6th century BCE and later.
As with the historical records from any other civilization, it must be compared to opposing accounts from contemporary societies in Europe, Mesopotamia, and Africa; likewise, records from its neighbors must be compared to it.
The famous silver scrolls discovered in 1979 at Ketef Hinnom uniquely preserve Biblical texts dating to at least the 6th century before Christ, possibly decades before the Jews were exiled to Babylon, thus disproving some theories of later Torah composition.

Since their discovery nearly half a century ago, the scrolls and the identity of the nearby settlement have been the object of great scholarly and public interest, as well as heated debate and controversy.
While no evidence remains of the five cities of the plain (Zeboim, Admah, Bela or Zoar, Sodom, and Gomorrah) their sites are believed to be beneath the waters at the southern end of the sea.
Also, there are scholars who believe there is a fourth category of scroll materials which is neither biblical, apocryphal, nor "sectarian." In their view, such scrolls, which may include "Songs of the the Sabbath Sacrifice", should be designated simply as contemporary Jewish writing.

Jacobovici distorts the biblical description of the ark of the covenant and of the tabernacle in order to be able to claim a resemblance between the miniature sculpture and the ark.
Creatures like these are what the biblical narrator had in mind gracing the walls of the tabernacle (and later temple) and the ark of the covenant.
On the other hand, Mark showed that some biblical texts explicitly reject such translatability; but then again, in so doing, they show that what they reject was previously considered a live possibility within their cultural milieu.

Orbach: One of the major archaeological mysteries that still perplexes scientists and biblical scientists alike, is the location of the five cities of the plain named in the Bible as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim and Zoar.
There whereabouts are probably of little or no concern outside of archaeological curiosity, except for one thing, the way in which these cities were said to have been destroyed.
The location of the five cities of the plain, as they are described in the Bible have long been the subject of speculation and research.

is one of those bass solos, based on a biblical quotation, which, according to its formal structure stands somewhere between an arioso and an aria.
Six and a half bars of the introduction now come in the instruments, in Eb instead of C minor, and the soloist sings the second clause, with first a holding note and then a vigorous run, partly based on (b), to ‘schützen’, and concludes with a pause on ‘Israel’.
Dovetailing with the end of the section the introduction is inserted again identical in key, but with many alterations—not only is the horn absent but (f) is in sixths instead of in thirds, the lower notes of oboe II producing an even more sinister effect.

One of the major archaeological mysteries still puzzling Biblical scholars and archaeologists is the location of the five cities of the plains, SODOM, GOMORRAH, ADMAH, ZEBOIM and BELA also known as ZOAR.
The were situated in the Vale of Siddim which the Biblical account states became the Dead Sea.

It would be strange for Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim to each be listed as boundary markers if they were all in the same general location, at the south end of the Dead Sea.
It is logical that the cities would be located at some distance from each other in order for it to be necessary to include each of them as boundary markers.
One of them was located North of Jericho which was in perfect accord with scripture which indicates that Zeboim would be located North of the Dead Sea.

In the course of re-editing he incorporated a large body of traditional lore, which the midrashic process had put at his disposal, and also not a few fresh legal enactments that the exigencies of the past had called forth.
His work constitutes an enlarged Targum on Genesis and Exodus, in which difficulties in the biblical narrative are solved, gaps supplied, dogmatically offensive elements removed, and the genuine spirit of later Judaism infused into the primitive history of the world.
His object was to defend Judaism against the attacks of the hellenistic spirit that had been in the ascendant one generation earlier and was still powerful, and to prove that the law was of everlasting validity.

The distinguished evangelical biblical scholar John Stott wrote in 1988, on pages 320f, in the book “Essentials,” {which he co-authored with D. Edwards}, that the ultimate annihilation of the wicked should at least be accepted as a legitimate, biblically founded alternative to their eternal conscious torment.” Other notable evangelical scholars have also supported this viewpoint.
John W. Wenham in, “The Goodness of God,” published in 1974, and in “Universalism and the doctrine of Hell,” published in 1993, also states that he believes that Conditional Immortality is a biblical doctrine.
Isaac Watts the famous hymn writer, wrote a book which strongly supported the viewpoint that the wicked would endure conscious eternal torment, then later wrote another book which stated why he had become an Annihilationist.
