Zebra Cards -- Educational Benefits   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
By example and by repetition, Zebra Cards attempt to modify subtly the way a physician thinks during the interview and examination of a patient; that is, to make him or her aware that anything could be a clue to the identity of the patient's malady.
Zebra Cards help attune the physician's ear to the casual parenthesis by showing how the most inconsequential, outrageous, innocuous, or inconsistent statement or observation may be a manifestation of disease.
Zebra Cards convincingly show, not only at an intellectual level, but at a visceral level as well, that there are subtleties in even the most mundane situations and that no two experiences are ever identical.

Zebra (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zebra is a hard rock band that came together in 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Zebra started their career by playing covers of Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues and Rush songs: it was their early fans' reaction to their Led Zeppelin renditions that helped convince the band to bring their act to New York.
Prior to Zebra, there was no other cover band who could perform Led Zeppelin's repetoire so consistently and inspiringly.

One of the most exciting musical events of the 80's was the breakout success of Zebra, as they rose from regional popularity to national recognition.
Zebra's second album, "No Tellin' Lies", found the band tapping their potential in a variety of new areas.
Busy, talented guys, all three, but still having Zebra as their musical focus, finally in 2003 - 17 years after the release of "3.V" - Zebra is back with its original line-up with a brand new album simply entitled "IV".

Zebras are gregarious under conditions of abundant food or around water holes.
And finally, the stripe pattern on each zebra is individual and the learned pattern of each serves to bond zebras together as a family group.
The zebra is the only grazer to have both upper and lower incisors; it can thus snip the grass blade (rather than yanking it out), exposing the tender under grasses for others.

Bullz-Eye.com - CD Reviews - Zebra: Zebra IV
Yes, this is the formula that made Zebra one of the hottest bands of the early 1980s in their dual hometowns of Long Island, New York and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Zebra is one of those bands that took off so fast locally but was never able to reach a national audience the same way, be it because of poor management or bad timing.
That, and Zebra still has a more poppy side, as evidence by tracks such as "Who Am I" and "So I Dance." "Angels Calling" is a rock anthem for a new generation and "My Life Has Changed" is also a blazing track.

I came across Zebra's 1983 self-titled debut, and she was shocked that I didn't know who they were.

The Bloody Truth: This is an album for all fans of of Zebra, past and present, and while you may worship their debut, the band has successfully created new material that lives up to the legacy created by their former work.

Zebra was a "progressive" cover band, with a few originals, that could easily stand toe to toe with the Zeppelin, Rush and Montrose covers they played.
Zebra could have been the best Zeppelin Cover band in the world, but they chose the high road and devoted themselves to original material.
An odd burst of nostalgia just overtook me and I looked up Zebra's first album to hear some song clips (mostly because I'm too lazy to walk upstairs and hunt for my circa-1985 horrendous, worn-out, listened to about 10,000 times, cassette-tape recording made from my friend Eddie's scratchy album).

Zebra is the best of the Zeppelin clones, completely shedding their influence on the uncelebrated 3.V (and there's plenty of good rock to be had on No Tellin' Lies as well).

Zebra IV In the years since the inadvertent demise of Led Zeppelin in 1980, many have tried to fill the void.
But what Zebra does better than all the others is capture the spirit of Zeppelin; not just having an acoustic number with a hard rocker next, but also successfully intermingling the two styles in one song.
Zebra balances the light with the heavy with catchy precision and loose interpretation that fans of the hard rock genre still crave.

As in Zebra 's signature single, "Who's Behind the Door," Jackson still ponders deep thoughts like "Why" (a veritable "Blackbird" rewrite) and "Who Am I" (a bizarre take on the Bible with animal rights sentiments similar to the earlier FM chestnut "Bears").
This vital component keeps Zebra dancing in the ruins of other post-pop/prog bands that search for vitality and marketability by sacrificing the simple hooks and passion that made them famous in the first place.
Zebra is a proud dinosaur, and Zebra IV is an eminently listenable record of epic insignificance.

A little twist that is a first for Zebra is mastered on track #8, "Waiting To Die", as in the mix is a very cool sax interlude throughout.
Though it was tough for this fan not to hear anything new for all these years up to "IV", I can simply say that this CD shines on with the superb AOR traditions this band continues to master through all these years and is most definitely worth the wait.

That’s not surprising, considering that most of the 11 tracks on IV were written back in the Eighties, with the heavy boogie-woogie rocker “Free” dating all the way back to 1975.
IV is just about split down the middle between good-time rockers with a dash of Seventies spirit and introspective, more melodic acoustic pieces.
With Zebra originally being from not so far Long Island the band used to play L’Amour all the time when it was the place to be.

Zebra are an excellent, if often underrated, hard rock trio.
For years the band built up a solid fan base in both their home state and in New York, where they would split their time, and a couple of impressive demos would catch the attention of Atlantic records.
The disc would prove to be an excellent return to form, but sadly it was all but ignored and would go down as an underrated treasure.
