ZEELAND TWP - Zeeland Farm Services (ZFS) Inc. received the green light from the Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) to build its 15,700-square-foot soybean oil refinery in what is now designated a Michigan Agricultural Renaissance Zone.
Both Zeeland Charter Township and Ottawa County officials approved ZFS' project this summer.
ZFS is investing about $4 million into the soybean oil refinery and anticipates it will add 30 jobs to the area in the next two or three years.

Located in Zeeland, the state-of-the-art technology is utilized to process approximately 25,000 bushels of soybeans per day and is predicted to strengthen Michigan’s agricultural climate.
The MI-SBTDC also assisted ZFS in obtaining two P.A. 198 tax abatements from Zeeland Charter Township for its $5 million investment in the construction of a six-mile long gas pipeline and improvements to its processing plant to utilize this new energy source.
