	Zeeland Archives - Zeeuws Archief - Introduction
		The Zeeuws Archief was formed on January 1, 2000 by a merger of the former Rijksarchief in Zeeland [State Archives in the province of Zeeland], the Gemeentearchief Middelburg [Municipal Archives of Middelburg] and the Gemeentearchief Veere [Municipal Archives of Veere].
		The Zeeuws Archief aims to assist everybody in the study of his of her part in the history of Zeeland by caring and promoting the records and collections in its possession.
		The Zeeuws Archief holds records and collections of all the governmental institutions and and most of the private organisations which were or are based in the province of Zeeland and in the villages and towns which now belong to the municipalities of Middelburg and Veere.

	Language in the Netherlands
		Zeeuws or Zeelandic is a regional language with a lot of North Sea Germanic features and is therefore related to Frisian, Scots and English.
		In the Middle Ages, Zeeuws (then often spelled as Zeesch, 'Sea-ish') was the name of the costal language of Zeeland and West Flanders.
		Zeeuws can be divided into a number of dialectgroups: Svores (a very small area around the village of Oostvoorne in the province of South Holland), Goereês, Flakkees (both in South Holland, too), Fluplands (St. Philipsland), Thools, Schouws, Duvelands, Noord-Bevelands, Zuud-Bevelands, Walchers, West-Zeêuws-Vlaoms and Land-van-Axels.
