Zefyri or Zefiri, ( Greek, Modern: Ηεφύρι, Ancient/ Katharevousa : -on), older forms Zefyrion, Zefirio or Zefirion, is a suburb in the northern part of Athens, Greece.
Zefyri is slightly north of the Attiki Odos (number 6) at the Dimokratias Avenue interchange and GR-1 / E75 lies to its east.
Zefyri Tunnel which is cut and cover is 440 m in length and is in the southern part.

In August, Yannis Papakostas, a Greek military conscript who was detained for driving a motorcycle without a licence, alleged that a plainclothes police officer at Aspropyrgos police station had subjected him to electric shocks on his shoulders and genitals.
Thomas Mihalopoulos, a Rom, alleged that in July he and a cousin, Georgios Mihalopoulos, were slapped, kicked and punched by police officers at Zefyri police station after being arrested for driving a car without a licence.
There were several incidents in which police officers or soldiers were alleged to have resorted to firearms in contravention of international standards for their use, resulting in injuries and deaths.

They are frequently harassed by police during police raids in search of drugs and arms.
In October 2001 a police officer shot and killed an unarmed Rom, Marinos Christopoulos, in Zefyri, Attica, after he failed to stop for a police patrol.
The police officer was arrested and charged with murder, but was released on bail five days later, and returned to service.

The European Roma Rights Center (ERRC), an international public interest law organisation which monitors the human rights situation of Roma and provides legal defence in cases of human rights abuse, is concerned about the reported killing of a Romani man by a police officer in Greece.
According to a press release issued on October 25, 2001, by the General Police Directorate of Attica, Mr Christopoulos was fatally wounded when he refused to pull over at a road block and, according to police, allegedly accelerated his car in the direction of the three officers at the scene.
