Zero (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unlike most singles, "Zero" was released as an EP and included "Pastichio Medley", a medley of parts of songs from the Mellon Collie sessions that mostly remain unreleased.
The medley also features snippets of songs that actually were released; the snippet of the song "Disconnected" is a riff from an early version of "The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right)" and the riff called "Rachel" ended up being worked into the album track "X.Y.U.".
It is supposed this is to illustrate the "Zero" aspect of the song, the emptiness inside.

 HOT NEW AOR REVIEWS
Songs like “Tuuli kay”, “Merian”, (TALK OF THE TOWN style) “Taivaaseen” (DOKKEN style) and “Petturi” (fantastic uptempo AOR rocker, wonderful harmonies in chorus, best song on the whole CD) are the living proof of the updated style change.
These songs are drifting away from the AOR sound of their previous recordings.
The first real weak song is "Dance to the rhythm" which is a bit too complicated, and is a bunch of experimental 90s pop/rock.

Dimension Zero.com - Song Reviews Gods Of Music August 2002
Dimension Zero, aka Monty Singleton, has a voice that reminds me a lot of Trent Reznor (especially with the distortion of the words, "And now I know"), and Trent is my favorite vocalist of any band.
His singing really does work in the song, as does the choir parts and the various machine noises and static that are such a staple of industrial music.
After the first half of the song, elements of the song start fading in and out in strange and unpredictable ways.

But, after the band landed in L.A. with no clue what they were going to do or how they were going to make another record, the idea to record live seems like a new beginning for a band that has re-invented themselves and grown with every album.
