  Zhang Aiping - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zhang Aiping (Wades-Giles: Chang Ai-ping) (January 9, 1908 - July 5, 2003) was a Chinese communist military leader.
Born in Da county, Sichuan province, Zhang joined the Communist Party of China in 1928 after taking part in a communist-led rural uprising.
Zhang was accused of counterrevolutionary crimes and dismissed from all positions during the Cultural Revolution, when many veteran communists were attacked by Red Guards inspired by Mao Zedong's vision of continuous revolution.

The PLAN East Sea Fleet was build on surrounded and defected KMT naval vessels, South China Field Army’s Vice commander Zhang Aiping was entrusted to build up this fleet.
With over 10,000 staff from PLAN 30th and 35th army, the fleet was commissioned in Feb 3rd, 1950, and renamed as East Sea Fleet in Oct 24, 1955.
