Method of producing tire reinforcing member - Patent 5002621
The method comprises steps of causing cords to pass through a plurality of small apertures of a guide plate each for one of the cords to arrange these cords in a predetermined positional relation, winding the cords about winding type braking means, and extending the cords about a dancer roller.
A method of producing a tire reinforcing member as set forth in claim 1, wherein amplitudes of waves of the cords are modified by changing a traverse distance of the movable guide plate during reciprocative movement.

Zigzag method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The zigzag method is a mannerism of knife and fork use in food consumption particular to North America.
The hand grasp is also different, in Europe it is considered better manners not to hold a knife or fork as one would hold a pen, but to have the handle running along the palm and extending out to be held by thumb and forefinger.
This method is also common in Canada and most other ex- colonies.

Analysis of the Advantage of Speed and Changes of Course in Avoiding Attack by Submarine - ONI Pub. No. 30
An analysis may indicate a method of zigzag such that a certain percentage of submarines seeking to attack may be prevented from getting into position to fire a torpedo at a vessel employing it, and if so, mere arbitrary zigzags must be discarded.
It is also plain that the danger areas for the 45° zigzag is materially greater than for the 20° zigzag, and that the number of chances to attack are increased by the virtual reduction in speed caused by the zigzag.
It is apparent that the duplication of a zigzag of a construction as simple as this would hardly complicate the operations of the enemy submarine in so far as obtaining a position from which he could fire a torpedo is concerned.

Based on the lack of sufficient methods for performing fast video decoding with low complexity, a need exists for a method and a device to improve the performance of a block-based video decoder which may exploit the properties of the decoded bitstream to reduce the complexity of performing an inverse DCT transformation.
The method comprises the steps of: generating a set of reduced complexity implementation candidates for the inverse discrete cosine transform; using video compression standard syntax cues to obtain the number of non-zero coefficients for the inverse discrete cosine transform; and mapping the number of non-zero coefficients to a corresponding reduced complexity implementation candidate inverse transformation.
After the zigzag scan, non-zero DCT coefficients tend to be dense at the beginning and sparse at the end of the scan, thus accommodating efficient compression.

Research efforts were centered on testing the feasibility of existing sampling methods (psuedo-random or zigzag sampling) and targeted sampling with the use of secondary information such as yield maps, soil types, and/or remote sensing.
In this case, sample data observed by both methods were added together to produce a higher density dataset to compare the two sampling methods.
This displays the limitations of the method regarding the identification of the area and extent of potentially important crop limiting factors occurring in the field.

The tubes we studied by the DFT method are marked by red, blue and green circles for the zigzag, armchair and chiral tubes, respectively.
Zigzag tubes show the largest average deviation (also quite similar to the bond lengths), and on average the chiral tubes are somewhere in between.
In the case of zigzag tubes a clear systematic behavior can be recognized, reminiscent of the case of the "triad structure" of geometrical parameters: non-metallic zigzag tubes tend to follow a more or less smooth curve, while the metallic ones are systematically lower than this curve.

 The Zigzag Method
In the actual running of the heuristic, the sequence of cells examined follows a ``zigzag'' path along the diagonal of the matrix, hence the name of the heuristic.
The Zigzag Method makes use of this underlying heuristic in solving the combinatorial problem involving more than two lists.
However, this method is obviously impractical when the number of lists get large.

 Agate
Much of the chalcedony in an agate is known, from the method of artificially staining the stone, to be readily permeable.
Many agates are hollow, since deposition has not proceeded far enough to fill the cavity, and in such cases the last deposit commonly consists of quartz, often amethystine, having the apices of the crystals directed towards the free space, so as to form a crystal-lined cavity or geode.
When the deposits in an agate have been formed on a crop of crystals, or on a rugose base, the cross-section presents a zigzag pattern, rather like the plan of a fortress with salient and retiring angles, whence the stone is termed fortification agate.
