		Oraş dunărean, Zimnicea este construit lângă mai multe aşezari, fortăreţe şi fortificaţii antice, a căror vârstă se plasează între secolele IV î.Hr şi secolul I. Cele mai vechi dintre ele, sunt considerate de o parte din istorici, ca fiind construite pentru a apăra oraşul de generalul lui Alexandru cel Mare, Lisimachos.

		In the same region with early Monteoru discoveries from long time are known several slab-cist graves, in some of whom were discovered askos like cups.
		Considering the radiocarbon dating for Late Tripolje, Zimnicea and Globular Amphorae cultures is possible to outline a terminus post quem for the beginning of Monteoru culture at about 3000 BC.

		The lockrings of Zimnicea type seem to be specific for the Early Bronze Age in the Aegean and Lower Danube, only one piece of this type had been discovered in nord-pontic steppes, in a burial under a barrow in Kovalevka, Ukraina.

		Today 19 January, the Ministry of Education and Research asked the Teleorman County School Inspectorate and the head teacher of the General High-school of Zimnicea to clear up the situation related to the appearance on the Internet of some photos of high-school girls.
		The investigation started at the General High-school of Zimnicea, which according to the anonymous email sent during the morning is the location where the photos were taken, and at other three schools in the town, has revealed so far that there is no connection between those pictures and the school units.

		Over the past couple of years, the environment monitoring laboratory in Svishtov has often signalled that air pollution in the region of the town is above normal.
		The system will make it possible to quantify what part of the pollution is caused by the Sviloza chemical plant in Svishtov and what by the industrial enterprises in Zimnicea and to assess the affect that the pollution has on the Bulgarian town.
		Up-to-date equipment will be provided from Sweden on European Union financing and under an agreement signed between the Bulgarian and Romanian environment ministries.
