  Zirakzigil (Silvertine Mountain) - Dragon Isles of Ambar
Long ago, the Dwur built the Dwurdelf of Zirakzigil inside the mountain, and with the men of Alglondor built the Shieldwall and city of Aegis in a ring around the peak.
The mountain is named Silvertine by humans, Zirakzigil by Dwur, and Celebdil by the elves.
Zirakzigil is the tallest peak in the Forandol Mountains.

This is useful to know, but somewhat irrelevant, because "no nameservers are responding" evidently doesn't mean that they don't respond, but that www.zirakzigil.net can't be resolved.
At the time of coding, it seemed to me that the inability to resolve zirakzigil was a reasonable proxy for the network being down.
This isn't the perfect solution, but it cover all cases excepting the case where there is a hurricane in florida and google has disappeared from the internet radar.

Sure Aragorn was by himself after he fell over the cliff by the White Mountains after the Warg attack.
Gandalf also fought the Balrog by himself at the peak of Zirakzigil, heck you could also even classify Boromir fighting with Lutrz as a battle by himself.
However, for the most part the Fellowship was usually together such as when Merry and Pippin were captured by the Uruk-hai, Frodo and Sam going off on their own to Mordor and Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas in their adventure to find The Army of the Dead.
