| | ZOCOR - Prescribing Information |
 | | ‘Zocor’ is indicated as an adjunct to diet to reduce elevated levels of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and triglycerides in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia including heterozygous end homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, or combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia when the response to diet and other measures have been inadequate. |
 | | The risk of rhabdomyolysis is increased by the concomitant use of ‘Zocor’ with drugs that have a significant inhibitory effect on cytochrome P450 3A4 at therapeutic doses (such as cyclosporine, mibefradil, itraconazole, ketoconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin and nefazodone), or with fibric acid derivatives or niacin. |
 | | In this multicenter, randomized, double- blind, placebo-controlled study ‘Zocor’ reduced the risk of death by 30%, of CHD death by 42%, and of having a hospital-verified non-fatal myocardial infarction by 37%. |
