Zonophone, early on also rendered as Zon-O-Phone was a record label founded in 1899 in Camden, New Jersey by Frank Seaman.
Seaman's "Zon-O-Phone" records design and technology were shamelessly stolen from Berliner, and the machines similarly copied from the products of Eldridge Johnson's Consolidated Talking Machine Company.
Further legal actions dragged on until 1903, when all of the United States and Latin American assets of Zon-O-Phone were turned over to Victor, and the Europe and British Commonwealth assets to the Gramophone and Typewriter Company (which was to become HMV).

Columbia was one of the original record companies, and its origin can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century, when it was engaged in the manufacture of cylinders, and phonograph machines.
The established British record industry was very critical of the cheap labels eroding their profits, and so most British companies which issued cheap labels were careful not to publicise the link between the cheap record label and themselves.

Recorded on 7 October 1930, uBungca was released later in the same month as one side of the first coupling by Caluza's Double Quartet (Zonophone 4276).
