		On this tour, “Zoot Allures” consists of the head, similarly played as on YCDTOSA Volume III, a guitar solo which evolves from this head, and the extended “Ship Ahoy” outro.

		Zoot Allures: When this one came out sometime in 1976, it had been at least a year since Bongo Fury, itself a bit of a disappointment after the stellar One Size Fits All.
		"Zoot Allures" is a study in sustained tones and surprising chord changes, with always-interesting bass lines by Dave Parlato, while "Friendly Little Finger" blends middle-eastern-style guitarro metallico with a touch of "Bringing In the Sheaves." But it's when FZ begins to sing that Zoot Allures begins its downhill slide.
		If you're going to listen to Zoot Allures at all, the remastered OM version is by far and away the one to choose; it has lost nothing, and gained much.

		It's hard to believe that the sublime ""Zoot Allures"" (featuring the sort of tuned-down whammy distortion that Adrian Belew would soon appropriate for himself) and the stupid "Disco Boy" were aimed at the same audience, but then ZAPPA always had cultivated a childish, self-destructive element to his art.
		Zoot Allures is maybe the album that starts a new phase in Zappa´s carrer: the late 70´s complex funky rhythm & musical parody, sexual lyrics, never ending guitar solos and even better bizzarre stuff than in the late 60´s.
		Well, Zoot Allures is an extremmely recomended album for begginers, due to its easilly listenable songs containing plenty of Zappa 70´s ideas, placed together in a very pleasant way.

		Today at rehearsal we practiced "Zoot Allures" and "Honey, Don't You Want A Man Like Me" and I think that might have been it.
		And "Stairway To Heaven", during which Scott had the Reagan mask on, and cavorted with me while I was down on my knees at the front of the stage.
		Oh, hold on...ACHOOO!!!...then we came back for the first encore which was "Zoot Allures" and "Peaches" - kind of low key, probably not the best songs to do for an encore right then; although they were both totally adequate it didn't really sustain the energy very effectively.

		It's kind of a shame then that, at this turning point in his career, the first album to come out under Zappa's own name would be somewhat mediocre for the most part.
		Zoot Allures is another disc that I don't play very often, although it does have a few great tracks.

		Zoot Allures, released in October 1976, is mostly a studio album (there are some basic live tracks, as in the title track and "Black Napkins") featuring a revolving cast of musicians who, oddly, do not correspond to the ones pictured on the album cover (for instance, Patrick O'Hearn and Eddie Jobson did not contribute).
		Historical note: The album was first devised as a two-LP set and would have included "Sleep Dirt," "Filthy Habits," and "The Ocean Is the Ultimate Solution," which all also fit the mood.
		Although humor has not been completely evacuated, Zoot Allures comes through as a much more serious rock record.
