Kosovska Vitina / Belgrade, May 18, 2003 - Head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic said on Monday that the murder of Zoran Mirkovic in the village of Vrbovac near Kosovska Vitina clearly illustrates the level of the safety and freedom of movement of Serbs in the province.
Zoran Mirkovic, 41, a teacher of Russian, was murdered with several bullets in the chest and head late on May 17, while he was riding a bicycle on his estate, the Beta news agency reported.
The new DS chief and Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic needs each of the junior partners to retain his slim majority in parliament and to continue pushing the reforms necessary for support from the International Monetary Fund and other institutions.

The body of Zoran Mirkovic, 41, was found late Saturday in a canal in an uninhabited part of the Serb village of Vrbovac, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) east of province's capital Pristina, said U.N. spokesman Andrea Angeli.
Police believe his body was dumped in the canal after he was shot elsewhere.
Zivkovic, who succeeded close ally Zoran Djindjic after his assassination in March, also told Reuters late on Thursday that Serbia would continue cooperating with the UN war crimes tribunal and hand over all fugitives found on its territory.

Whenever an attack against Serbs occurs, the typical response is that KFOR forces swoop down on a Serb settlement and carry out house to house searches while the Albanian attackers flee from the scene unpunished.
Despite the fact that Serbs had ample evidence of the involvement of ANA terrorists, international representatives covered the whole incident up over night and even said that it probably was not an ethnically motivated crime, thus de facto suggesting that Mirkovic was killed by Serbs, which represents the ultimate level of hypocrisy.

PRISTINA -- Kosovo Ombudsman Marek Antoni Novicki said today that there had been "almost complete silence" from media and prominent individuals in Kosovo about the murder of Serb Zoran Mirkovic in Vrbovac.
