		Ethnohistorical information from amongst the Chontal and Yucatec Maya of the lowlands which suggests that a large percentage of households in the area (perhaps the majority) were of a multiple family nature (see Wilk 1988:138-142) further complicates the question, as does the exceptionally long occupation span for the locus (approximately 1500 years).
		However, we can with some confidence suggest that Structure 2 was the main locus for the interment of individuals at the Zotz group, and that these individuals, some with frontal-occipital deformation and jade inlaid teeth, were likely of some importance in the community.
		The presence of what is most probably a sacrificial offering suggests strongly the Zotz Structure 2 was of considerable ideological importance at the time of its construction.
