Internal discord existed among the Frankopani, Zrinski, Gorjanski, Blagaji, Kurjakovici, etc. Gregory XII organized a crusade in Siena to help Sigismund, and Ladislaus, seeing that he could not hold his ground on the Eastern Adriadic, sold Dalmatia to Venice for 1000,000 ducats, the agreement being signed in the church of S. Silvestro, 9 July 1409.
Among the apostles of the Reformation in Croatia were the Ungnad family and George Zrinski who established a printing plant for the purpose of spreading their teaching.
When asked, at a meeting of the Sabor, to grant toleration to Protestantism, Ban Bakatch made answer: "I prefer rather to break off relations with the Hungarian Crown than to allow this pest to spread." Conflicts occurred with the Turks at Novi Zrinj (1664), and at ST. Gothatd.

Nikola Zrinski je bio hrvatski ban od godine 1647.
Ban Nikola Zrinski je zajedno s bratom Petrom uspješno ratovao protiv turske vojske, i dok ih je Europa slavila, nesposobni Leopold I. ih je stalno opominjao da ostave Turke na miru i "poštuju primirje".
Nikola Zrinski je držao u "mat poziciji" tursku utvrdu Kanižu, ali je dobio zapovijed da mora zaustaviti i povući svoje ratnike.

The Franciscan Bernardin Pavlovic from Dubrovnik, born in Ston, had two works printed in Venice in 1747 "in the Croatian language." The title of the second work runs as follows: Salves for the dying...new and revised edition printed in Croatian for the benefit of the Croatian nation, Venice, 1747.
Their brave and successful defense of Boka was the reason of the arrival of Petar Zrinski, a famous Croatian statesman, who also had numerous dramatic battles with the Turks.
During his three day sojourn in Perast he presented his legendary sword to the town, as the sign of his recognition to their efforts to defend their homeland, and to stop the approach of the Ottoman Empire to Middle Europe.
