Zulu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shaka Zulu was the illegitimate son of Senzangakona, chief of the Zulus.
Zulu music incorporates rhythm, melody and harmony — the latter is usually dominant and known as "isigubudu" (which can be translated as converging horns on a beast, with tips touching the animal, a spiralling inward that reflects inner feelings).
Zulu is the most widely spoken language in South Africa, with more than half of the South African population able to understand it (Ethnologue 2005).

 Zulus
The Zulu Nation covered a large territory that it included the conquered clan's land and the abandoned land by the fleeing clans.
In 1816, Senzangkhona, the chief of the Zulu clan, died.
The Zulus believed in an almighty or supreme being, whom they called Umvelinqangi, which means "the one who is always there." Their Umvelinqangi, they believed, created the universe, but had little to do with day-to-day affairs.

The Zulu Nation of South Africa
The Xhosa, Pondo and Thembu of the Eastern Cape, (formerly Transkei) are major representatives of the South Nguni, while the Zulu, the Swazi of Swaziland and the Ndbele (in the present provinces of Gauteng and Mpumalanga) are of the Northern Nguni.
The Zulu of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa belong to the larger Nguni linguistic group whose origin is lost in an oral tradition that precedes recorded history.
The final Nguni migration populated the heart of KwaZulu-Natal where the small and unimportant Zulu clan was later to succeed the Ndwandwe and Mthetwa empires respectively in the north-west and north-east.

Zululand: History of the Zulu Nation
Related neither to the Zulu nor their deeply revered ancestors, the Bushmen were descendants of Early Stone Age progenitors who had enjoyed the same fruits of this bountiful terrain for a million-plus years before them.
Following the tradition of Nguni heirs, Zulu used part of his inherited cattle herd as dowry for marriage - to this day it remains customary for the bride's father to receive cattle as compensation for the loss of his daughter's labour within the household.
Whatever their number, Zulu's wives and followers accompanied the new clan head further south to the Mkhumbane River basin where, amid the tall euphorbia trees destined to become the symbol of chieftancy, the man called Heaven established his own small realm - the first KwaZulu, or Place of Heaven.
