Drina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After the dual town of Zvornik (Bosnia and Herzegovina)-Mali Zvornik (Serbia), the Drina flows between the Bosnian mountain of Majevica and the Serbian mountain of Gučevo, and enters the Lower Podrinje region.
On the Serbian side, the Drina passes next to the villages of Brasina and Rečane, the ruins of the medieval town of Koviljkin Grad, the spa and town of Banja Koviljača, the industrial town and center of the Podrinje region, Loznica, and its largest suburb, Lozničko Polje.
The Drina is crossed by several bridges: at Višegrad, Skelani, Bratunac and Zvornik (in Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Loznica and Badovinci in Serbia.

The seven are accused of murdering at least 19 Bosnian Muslim civilians near the Bosnian town of Zvornik in 1992, and expelling 1,822 to Hungary.
Night after night, truckloads of Bosnian Muslim civilians were taken down to the bridge and riverbank by Bosnian Serb paramilitaries, unloaded, sometimes slashed with knives, sometimes shot, and thrown into the river, dead or in various states of half-death, turning the turquoise of the Drina red with blood.
Visegrad was, too, the location for the one of the most infamous rape camps, at a spa called Vilina Vlas, where Muslim women and girls were violated all night, every night, to the point of madness and sometimes suicide.

Shirtless and shoeless, three dozen Canadian soldiers sun themselves atop their mud-encrusted armored personnel carriers at the camp they call their "dump on the Drina.'' The aptly dubbed bivouac, rife with soldierly garbage and body odor, was born of a rare moment of triumph for UNPROFOR.
Barred by rebel warlord Vladimir Dakic from entering Bosnia across the Drina River bridge at Mali Zvornik, the Canadians parked the war machines they use to escort aid convoys in a wide dirt lot in view of the barricaded span.
Dakic, a swaggering and temperamental captain in the self-styled Bosnian Serb army, is known among U.N. soldiers and relief workers as the "king of the bridge'' for his power to control passage of life-saving humanitarian aid.
