JSNTGM Records - ZYKLON B Band Page   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
I never saw Zyklon B play live, though I do remember my first encounter with Mark Ormrod at the Teanlowe Disco in Poulton in late 1978 when he laughingly suggested that the red SLF Inflammable Material t-shirt I was sporting would suit him better.
Zyklon's first gig was in Poulton library in late 1977 followed by out of town gigs in Manchester, Preston and York.
Zyklon B was a continuation of the band The Plastic Lizards (which included Andrew Cross on guitar) which unfortunately did not record any material, yet did however perform 1 gig in Kieron's garage to 6 lads from school.

Zyklon is a potent mixture of Zamoth (Samoth of Emperor and many other bands), Destructhor (Myrkskog also on Candlelight Records), Trym (Emperor) and Daemon (Limbonic Art).
Zyklon was based on some of the same ideas: to create a hard-hitting metal act with an apocalyptic concept.
Zyklon is more futuristic, though, and a hell of a lot more professional, and it is for me a proper band, while Z-B was just a project.

Zyklon B - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zyklon B (IPA: [tsykloːn ˈbeː], also spelled Cyclon B) was the tradename of a cyanide-based insecticide notorious for its use by Nazi Germany to kill over one million people in the gas chambers of Auschwitz and Majdanek during the Holocaust.
Zyklon B was used in the concentration camps initially for delousing to control typhus.
Modern Holocaust deniers assert that Zyklon B gas was not used in the gas chambers, relying as evidence on the low levels of Prussian blue residue in samples of the purported gas chambers found by Fred A. Leuchter, which Leuchter dismissed as the results of general delousing of buildings.

Zyklon features Zamoth (Samoth) and Trym of Emperor, Destructhor of Myrkskog and leading up the vocals is Daemon of Limbonic Art.
To be quite honest, I wasn't impressed with the last Emperor album, I felt it moved in directions that the band's fans were not very interested in.

I've long been a fan of Emperor, and since Zyklon consists of Samoth and Trym from Emperor, I immediately pounced on "World ov Worms" when it was first released.
Zyklon easily rivals Emperor in speed and intensity, but Zyklon forgoes the atmospheric synth elements for a stripped down sound and pinpoint precision.
I will forever lament the fact that I missed the Emperor show that came to Jaxx a few years ago, and if Zyklon comes around (as their bio sheet claims they will) I will definitely be making that show.

Earning his vocal stripes while touring (the band supporting Morbid Angel and Deicide for their maiden US adventure), the drummer turned bassist/vocalist settles perfectly into the position left vacant in late 2001 by Daemon.
Founded in 1998, it was evident from the start that ZYKLON was to be more than just a "side project" for the then-Emperor guitarist and drummer.
The band would tour worldwide with Morbid Angel and by year's end the album would find itself upon many magazine and critic "Best of Year" lists.

Zyklon - 'World ov Worms' review @ into-obscurity.com[enter the underground]
Zyklon, made up of Zamoth (formerly Samoth), the founder of Emperor, Trym, the drummer of Emperor, Destructhor of Myrkskog on bass and lead guitar, Daemon from Limbonic Art on vocals, and Bard Faust Eithurn penning the lyrics, can easily be classified as a "supergroup".
Instead of being in the forefront or accompanying the rest of the music, there are breaks in the music where the keyboards are the sole instrument used to give the atmosphere a post-apocalyptic feel.
However, with bands like Zyklon in their wake, the blow will definitely be softened a greal deal.

The band's debut, World ov Worms is slated for an early February release and for us feeling the cold bite of winter, the timing couldn't be better.
How will you dispel people's perception that Zyklon is just another incarnation of Zyklon B? Obviously, due to the similar name, people will connect the two, and I expect this to be an issue for many journalists and fans.
Zyklon is kind of based on many of the same ideas I had for doing Z-B. But today I can do it 100 percent and in a professional way.

The band’s members were Tomas "Samoth" Thormodsæter Haugen (guitar and bass) and Vegard "Ihsahn" Sverre Tveitan (keyboard) from Emperor, Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad (Drums) from Satyricon and Björn "Aldrahn" Dencker Gjerde (vocals) from Dødheimsgard.

Zyklon - Biography - AOL Music
An off-shoot of Norwegian fl metal legends Emperor, Zyklon was founded by guitarist/bassist Zamoth (aka Samoth, as he is known in Emperor), who wanted to focus on the more modern and aggressive aspects of the latter band's style.
Compared with Emperor, Zyklon has a more hard-edged and less atmospheric or majestic sound; its members have chosen the broader extreme metal tag, as opposed to fl metal, to describe their music.
(They have also made a point of distinguishing themselves from Zyklon-B, another, earlier, Emperor off-shoot.) Zyklon was founded in 1998, but their official lineup took a couple of years to fully come together, solidifying in the year 2000 with drummer Trym (also of Emperor) and bassist/lead guitarist Destructhor (Myrkskog) filling in the other instrumental slots.

Emperor (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Over the years, the band's sound progressed, changing to what can be called "extreme symphonic metal" in their later days.
In the autumn of that year, the police began to investigate the murder of Euronymous of Mayhem, naming Varg Vikernes (of Burzum) as a suspect; this investigation eventually led to the incarceration of Samoth for arson, and of Faust for the murder of the homosexual man in Lillehammer.
After Samoth's parole, the band was joined by Trym on drums, and in the end of 1996, Emperor entered the studio to record Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk.

Zyklon is the new full-time super group from Norway's most flened regions, consisting of Emperor members Samoth (guitarist and bass) and drummer Trym, Myrkskog's Destructhor on lead guitar, and Limbonic Art vocalist Daemon.

With their album Aeon, the all-star band Zyklon strikes once again on the cusp of fl and death metal.
All of the album's lyrics (as usual with Zyklon) were written by Faust (ex-Emperor) and are extremely misanthropic and individualistic, yet still very intelligent in their philosophy.

Zyklon was brought to life by Emperor's founding member Zamoth with the intention of creating a whole new band, expressing a more aggressive attitude.
The basic line-up of the band was completed only in the beginning of the year 2000, when Destructhor (also member of Myrkskog) joined forces with Zamoth and Trym.
In July 2000 the band went into Akkerhaugen Lydstudio, with producer Thorbjørn Akkerhaugen, to begin the recording sessions of their debut album.

Get Ready to ROCK! Review of CD album by death metal rock band Zykon called Disintegrate
Featuring ex-Emperor members Samoth (guitars) and Trym (drums), and with their previous two releases having caused quite a huge stir within the metal community, Zyklon is a band that deserves all the attention they can get.
Seeing as I have been a huge Emperor fan since the early days, one could rightfully assume that the band's previously two releases would hold a predominant position in my record collection, but the truth is that I have never even attempted to listen to this band, prior to receiving this promo from Candlelight records.
It is true that Zyklon's style has very little to do with Samoth's/Trym's glorious past, but it only took a simple spin to realise that "Disintegrate" is an album that can appeal to both Emperor enthusiasts and extreme metal fans alike.
