Deodorant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Deodorants may be combined with antiperspirants – classified as drugs by the FDA – which attempt to stop or significantly reduce perspiration.
While at one time deodorants and antiperspirants were usually applied in an aerosol spray or in a liquid roll-on forms, many other options including compressed solid powders, compressed solid gels, gels, and alum crystals have taken over the market.
Cultures and individuals differ in their attitudes about the need for deodorant, and on whether natural body odor is offensive.

National Cancer Institute - Antiperspirants/Deodorants and Breast Cancer
There is no conclusive research linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer (see Question 1).
Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast (2).
Because estrogen promotes the growth of breast cancer cells, some scientists have suggested that the use of deodorants or antiperspirants could cause the accumulation of parabens in breast tissues, which may contribute to the development of breast cancer.
