		If the copy theory were a part of a more general theory, then, although one might provide inductive evidence for the truth of the copy theory, the copy theory of ideas would be deemed adequate if and only if the theory of which it is a part were adequate.
		If Hume recognized that his bundle theory of mind lacked explanatory completeness and, as a consequence, he rejected it in favor of a mere lawful description of the operations of the mind, this constitutes such a subtle shift.
		Beginning with the plea that ‘no offence may be taken in charging [Hume's bundle theory] or any other metaphysical notions with absurdity, or being contrary to the common sense of mankind’ (Reid 1970: 31-2), he proceeds to argue that ‘Ideas seem to have something in their nature unfriendly to other existences’ (Reid 1970: 33).

	Mind
		This would be the view of someone who held a bundle theory about the mind.
		The view of common sense, it seems, is opposed to a bundle theory of the mind.
		David Hume was very famous for advocating a bundle theory of mind (though the interpretation of Hume on this point is often one of some controversy) and for arguing forcefully against the idea of mental substance.

		A blob theory of ordinary concrete particulars is consistent with a mereological analysis of those particulars as wholes constituted by separable parts; but a blob theory renders concrete particulars structureless entities with no internal differentiation of properties and relations within those concrete particulars.

		Specifically, I argue that theories of property possession involved with the bundle theory and substance theories of objects involve contradiction.

		Ego theories come in different flavors, but all of them claim that what it is to be the same person over time is for some single ego, substance, subject of experiences or what have you to persist over time.
		Hume was perhaps the first bundle theorist in the Western philosophical tradition (though my uneducated guess is that certain medieval thinkers may have held similar views) but Parfit points out that the Buddha also held a bundle theory.
		If by the "Ego Theory," Parfit means a theory that posits some special metaphysical entity that knits the parts of the person together into a unity -- a soul or mental substance or some such thing -- then we might grant, at least for the sake of the argument, that there is no such thing.

	Psychological Continuity
		The bundle theory asserts that there is no 'I' or owner of these experiences, just a set of experiences related by proximity, similarity and causality.
		It seems logical to suppose that the theory does not construct identity as a physical object in its own right that continues, but if this is the case then the theory implies that identity is constructed with reference purely to physical properties of the person.
