RHETORICS   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Dispositio is the arrangement of the major parts at the level of discourse and is based on the argumentative content found during the inventio operation.
These are: exordium, the opening introduction of the speech; narratio, the description of the bare facts of the events; confirmation, the direct application of the proofs found in inventio and used relevant to the facts of narratio; and epilog or peroratio, the summary or conclusion of the talk.
During inventio this is a question of finding the available means as argumentative content; during dispositio one must find the available means as structure, as dramaturgy; and during elocutio, one must find the available means for optimizing the persuasive power of the language in use.

Rather than being two separate processes, inventio and dispositio are complementary parts of the same process--the process of analyzing the audience and developing a speech to evoke a predetermined reaction from that audience.
While dispositio has a function outside inventio, if the discourse is to be audience-centered, the function of dispositio within inventio must not be overlooked.
Another facet of criticizing dispositio in student speeches is concerned with the thought processes involved.

She nevertheless feels that it is worthwhile to analyse the structure of the four completed books as scholars have not devoted sufficient attention to Ronsard's epic design in the poem.
She investigates how the theory of dispositio revealed in the previous chapters is applied in the Franciade and to what degree the difficulties Ronsard experienced with his epic can be traced back to his lack of managing the dispositio of the epic as a whole.
In particular she relates his failure to continue and conclude the epic (despite attempts at revision until the end of his life) to Ronsard's negligence in planning the integration of the distant, Trojan epic past of the poem with its historical elements (i.e.
