  100-Watt Bulb
AP and lateral films of the pelvis verified the location of the electric bulb in the rectum, and the patient was taken to the operating room.
After drying the glass surface of the bulb with ethyl ether swabs, we attempted to attach the suction cup end of the dart to the eletric bulb with cyanoacrylate cement.
Because this electric bulb was a large object (maximum diameter, 61 mm; length from metal end to top, 114 mm) made of fragile glass, special consideration had to be taken to avoid breakage that would have resulted in lacerations to the rectum and adjacent structures, with consequent complications.

The History of the Light Bulb - An Electric Dawn
The charcoal (which is a form of carbon remember) became electrically charged and began to glow, with arcs of electricity in the air surrounding it.
The electric lamp had to be first safe, cost-effective, and then practical; as small as possible in size allowing for easy transportation and installation, and it had to light up the surrounding area well, and not burn out after only a short time.
So the wonder of electric light bulbs were soon seen in all parts of the world where electricity itself stood proud, and even in some places where it didn’t yet (which must have been unbelievably maddening).

 The First Electric Light Bulb
The air is then extracted from the said globe, or vessel, after it has been hermetically sealed at the ends, and then filled with rarified gas that will not unite chemically with the carbon when hot.
Electricity is now supplied and in sufficient quantity, so as to heat the carbon within the vessel to a State of incandescence, the rarified gas previously introduced now becomes luminous, and constitutes the light herein designated as Woodward and Evans' Electric Light.
In fact he was not granted a patent because his "invention" too closely resembled an invention in the UK of a filament in a vacuum tube, developed by Joseph Swan in the 1860's.

The Electric Bulb - Daniel D. Grafton | Haiku Review
And while the electric bulb has become one of the key markers for the idea of a civil culture, enabling and defining industry, social space and private life, its surplus light casts a shadow over less technically developed parts of the world who cannot reach for a light switch.
Yet the impact of the electric bulb upon social life is disproportionate to its physicality; it is a fragile object with its delicate tungsten filaments precariously suspended within a thin glass envelope.
However, the humble and naked electric bulb ‘burns brightly’ in the collective psyche of industrialised culture, materially and figuratively, and both aspects are present in the act of switching a light on at the wall.

Method for manufacturing sealed-beam type electric bulb - Patent 4342142
A method of manufacturing a sealed-beam type electric bulb according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said plastic base plate is made of a material having a linear thermal expansion coefficient greater than that of said external lead wire material.
The external bulb or air-tight container of a conventional sealed beam type electric bulb comprises a borosilicate glass reflector coated with a reflecting film on its inner surface, and a lens formed with the same glass material.
When a tungsten halogen lamp bulb having a single filament is employed as the light source 11, its two external lead wires are respectively inserted in two predetermined holes among the small through holes 10a to 10d, and bonded by the adhesive in the same manner as described.

Miniature electric light bulb sets for decorative illumination - Patent 4228486
Conventional miniature electric light bulb sets for decorative illumination are prepared by branching out two electric wires from one attachment plug and further branching out each of said electric wires into two further electric wires at respective branch plates and providing a group of miniature bulbs grouped at each terminal of the respective branched wires.
In this case, the electric bulbs are fitted detachably to husk portions 12 and 12', and lead wire 11a of the electric bulb contacts terminals 12b mounted on the leads 5 and 5' to form a circuit (refer to FIG.
In this case, since the miniature electric light bulb groups are disposed as a whole in a parallel circuit, the flashing actions of each unit of the miniature electric light bulbs are different, and as a whole, two sets of the electric light bulb groups have alternate and staggered flashing times which demonstrate decorative effects.

 Ockham's Razor:11 July  2004  - The Electric Bulb
Whether in use or not, an electric bulb is a symbol for excessive material consumption; whilst one can use the utility of artificial light in small measures, it is impossible to use it sparingly.
This is why an electrical bulb is not merely an isolated, neutral technology, but an object and medium through which the ideology of culture emanates or becomes ‘material’.
Such illuminations subjugate the night and while the electric bulb has become one of the key markers for the idea of a civil culture, enabling and defining industry, social space and private life, its surplus light casts a shadow over other parts of the world where there are no light switches.

The "normal" lightbulb part is the part that sticks out, while the screwthread that attaches to the roundish bulb part is the working one (it's not a symmetrical lightbulb).
The target look is that you glued a lightbulb to the socket, and the mystery is how can that work, after all the normalish bulby parts are not in the socket, apparently.

How Things Work - Incandescent Light Bulbs
Incidentally, the filament in many incandescent bulbs is treated with a small amount of a phosphorus-based "getter" that reacts with any residual oxygen that may be in the bulb the first time the filament becomes hot.
A fluorescent tube uses an electric discharge in mercury vapor to produce ultraviolet light, which is then transformed into visible light by fluorescent phosphors on the inner surface of the tube.
The switch carefully controls the flow of electricity to the two filaments so that at the low light setting, only the small filament is on, at the medium setting, only the large filament is on, and at the high setting, both filaments are on.

 The Light Bulb
The light bulb is the basis our this hi-tech culture that we live in, not just the electric light but its offspring have created a world of marvelous technology that gives us tools to do everyday things that people 50 years ago would thought subjects for a science fiction novel.
The secret is that the bulb is fortified with extra filament to withstand jolts better, a high concentration of krypton gas to maintain brightness, and a device which transforms the alternating current entering the bulb into a direct current to conserve power.
One bright light is what the sulfur bulb is. It is no larger that a tootsie-pop but one 5,900 watt bulb generates the same amount of light as hundreds of today's industrial high-intensity mercury-vapor lamps while using 20 to 30 percent less energy.

incandescent, incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp, incandescent light, incandescent bulb, incandecsnt light ...
Halogen bulbs are technically incandescent light bulbs - illumination is produced in both when a tungsten filament is heated sufficiently to emit light or "incandescence." The difference between the two is in the composition of the glass envelope and the gas inside the envelope.
When the tungsten filament is heated it evaporates and deposits metal on the cooler glass envelope (this is why incandescent bulbs appear fl at the end of life).
This process requires incandescent bulb filaments to be heated less than optimally to give the bulb a reasonable life.

Demonstration of an Outdoor Hydrogen/Oxygen Explosion: Launching a Water Rocket Ignited by an Electric Bulb
Although many ignition sources, such as piezoelectric devices, Estes rocket igniters, and glow plugs may be available for the ignition of hydrogen/oxygen mixtures, we selected a small electric bulb as an ignition source for two reasons.
One is that an electric bulb is so common in everyday life that it can be easily obtained and is familiar to students.
The high temperature of the filament of an electric bulb with the glass removed initiates the explosion of a hydrogen/oxygen mixture in this demonstration.

Non Plagiarized Term papers: The Light Bulb Invention
The electric light, one of the daily conveniences that most affects human lives, was invented in 1879 by Thomas Sir Joseph Wilson Swan in England and Alva Edison in the United States.
Many inventors continued to overcome the problem of developing a reliable and electric bulb that would be practical for both public and home use, as a viable alternative to gas light.
Many other inventors had also tried to perfect incandescent lamps to divide electric light in parts or make it weaker and smaller than it was in the existing arc lamps, which were way too bright for small spaces such as the rooms of a house.
