Eschatology presents a clear and comprehensive introduction to the Christian hope for the future that is particularly relevant to today’s world.
Here Schwarz offers a study of eschatology that is thorough and rich, knowledgeable of the contemporary scene without capitulating to it, and sensitive to the subtleties of every issue he presents… This book is a welcome addition as a text for seminary students, graduate students, and parish pastors.
Schwarz’s survey of the entire field of eschatology is a valuable resource that will no doubt become a standard work on the topic in seminaries.

KOSG Bulletin Board - What is eschatology?
Eschatology is a theological term that means "the study of last things." That is, the study of the eternal state of people (heaven and hell), death, the "Great White Throne Judgment" of Revelation 20, the resurrection of the dead, and the "Second Coming" of Jesus Christ (not neccessarily in that order).
I agree with Jakman and might add that eschatology, specifically, is the study of "last things" dealing with the end or the "last things" of the Jewish age and Old Covenant from the period of approximately AD 30- AD 70.
Most people confuse last days or eschatology with the end of world history rather than the end of the Jewish age.

The slightly different Eschatology perspective I mentioned is the academic field of systematic and philosophical theology, which I studied in New York and London 1982-1992.

The IFS believes that Eschatology is only one aspect of the Christian experience and should not be the basis of a ministry, as has been seen in groups such as the deceased Millerites (the forefathers of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church), but simply another thing to assist in building a better and more productive Christian life.

Postmillennialism is an optimistic eschatology of the victory grace of God in subduing evil in the world.
Amillennialists insist that the promises made to national Israel, David and Abraham, in the OT are fulfilled by Christ and the Church during this age, which is the millennium, that is the entire period of time between the two advents of our Lord.
The older form of postmillennialism, as practiced by Reformed theologians such as Hodge and Warfield, has little in common in emphasis with the modern theonomic approach to eschatology, which emphasizes the rise of a theocracy as the vehicle of dominion.
