Frey also met Don Henley, who was in a band called Shiloh -- which was also signed to Amos Records and also getting nowhere fast -- and persuaded him, in the course of their mutual commiserations, to join the band working behind Ronstadt.
Frey's singing also improved markedly between the first two albums, and he was now effectively, with Henley, the one of two co-equal focal points in the band.

 THEMISATHENA.INFO: Glenn Frey
Freed from the "pressure cooker," Frey in 1982 released an album tellingly entitled "No Fun Aloud," the overall mood of which was set by the light, funky, brass-inflected type of R&B which would be characteristic of his following albums as well.
(Frey is from Detroit and counts Bob Seger as one of his earliest musical influences.) Songs such as "Partytown" and "I've Been Born Again" reflect feelings he may very well not have known for a while.
And while Frey did sprinkle in that occasionally more pointed note in his follow-up albums (e.g., "Better in the U.S.A." on 1984's "Allnighter," "Smuggler's Blues," written for the "Miami Vice" TV series, and the title track of 1988's "Soul Searchin'"), he mostly stayed true to the musical style coined on his first solo album.

Glenn Frey : No Fun Aloud - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Glenn Frey's first solo album plotted two Top 40 singles, with "I Found Somebody" going to number 31 in the summer of 1982 and the destitute-sounding "The One You Love" hitting number 15 two months later.
With help from Jack Tempchin, who co-wrote the Eagles' "Peaceful Easy Feeling," the album reached number 32 on the U.S. charts, but it's Frey's perfectly guided vocals and impeccable talent for crafting laid-back love songs that make the album noteworthy.
Even the average-sounding "All Those Lies" went to number 41, but efforts like "That Girl" and "She Can't Let Go" are thinned out too much, as Frey gets a little too involved with singer/songwriter colloquialisms.
