Introduction to Step Motor Systems - AnaheimAutomation.com
Accuracy of the step motor is a function of the mechanical precision of its parts and assembly.
They generally operate with step angles from 5 degrees to 15 degrees at relatively high step rates, and have no detent torque (detent torque is the holding torque when no current is flowing in the motor).
The next step is taken when A is turned off and phase B is energized, rotating the rotor clockwise 15 degrees; Continuing the sequence, C is turned on next and then A again.

Stepping Motors , step motor , stepper motor theory   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Stepping motors are simple to drive in an open loop configuration and for their size provide excellent torque at low speed.
Half step: Using the same stepping motor driven in half step mode doubles the resolution (steps per rotation).
Figure 11 illustrates this step by step switching of current for a 3 phase motor in half step mode and it's corresponding current trace.

 Step Motors Reference Guide
The main disadvantages in using a step motor is the resonance effect often exhibited at low speeds and decreasing torque with increasing speed.
Half step simply means that the motor is rotating at 400 steps per revolution.
Speed and torque performance of the step motor is based on the flow of current from the driver to the motor winding.

Step by Step's ratings were even worse which explains the episode order cut and worst of all for the fans, a "real" series finale.

The steps marked with the * are the same as the fullsteps in the table above, and have TWO coils on.
The other half steps only have ONE coil on, and the resulting problems are low torque in some steps and excessive current consumption in other steps.
As the 100%,0% steps are already running a coil at full current the only way to equalise torque is to REDUCE the current for the steps where 2 phases are on.

That the Chiefs lost 24-17 to the Cardinals was testimony to a very poor second half effort, especially from the offense, as Damon Huard threw a pair of interceptions, one that was taken back for a touchdown.
In fact, all second half quarterbacks combined were 10 of 45; that’s not even a completion percentage of 25 percent.
What happened in the second half really isn’t worth much analysis, other than the guys who won’t make the Cardinals roster were much better than the guys who won’t make the Chiefs roster.

It set you up for your first half marathon, and prepared you for “step two” with its series of sessions at anaerobic threshold and a second half-marathon.
To run even faster half marathons you’ll do a 10 to 20 week phase of Interval training, gradually increasing the length of your repetitions at 5K pace so that a higher percentage of each training session is at your goal heartrate.
