 | | This township was erected from Beccaria by a decree of the court of quarter sessions of Clearfield county, dated February 5, 1835, and was named in honor of Hugh Jordan, a former associate judge of the county and an ex-soldier of the Revolutionary war. |
 | | He stayed there a short time, and then came to Jordan township, and purchased three hundred acres of land, the same being later owned by his sons James, Joseph and Isaac, his daughter Mary, his grandson Taylor McNeel and John Mays. |
 | | She died in the early eighties, and he married Margaret, daughter of John Hunter, of Jordan township. |
