Kaiping (Traditional Chinese: 開平, Simplified Chinese: 开平, pinyin: Kāipíng; Yale Cantonese: Hoi1 Ping4; Kaiping dialect (Yale Romanization): Hoi3 Pen6) or Hoi Ping is a county-level city in the Guangdong province of southern China.
Administratively, Kaiping City is under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen.
Kaiping City is located 140 km away from Guangzhou, in the southwestern part of the Pearl River Delta.

The Kaiping dialect is a Chinese Yue language spoken in the county of Kaiping (开平) in southern Guangdong province, about 140 km west of Hong Kong.
There are about 680,000 people in Kaiping, almost all of whom speak the Kaiping dialect as a first or second language.
While this recording can be considered a good illustration of the phonetics and phonology of Kaiping Chinese as spoken both in China and in North American Chinatowns, the choice of words specifically reflects modern, young and urban speakers in Mainland China.

Auditors from Bank of China headquarters in Beijing were beginning to close in on the trail of missing funds and all the evidence pointed to the bank's sub-branch in Kaiping district in the small southern township of Sanbu, 100 kilometres from Macau.
In the early 1990s, Xu Chaofan was the manager at Kaiping until he was promoted to the bank's provincial headquarters in Guangzhou.
The manager of the hotel, who was also a former Kaiping sub-branch official, committed suicide by jumping from a hotel window, according to Caijing magazine.
