	Kegworth air disaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Kegworth Air Disaster occurred on January 8, 1989 when a Boeing 737-400 crashed onto the embankment of the M1 motorway in England.
		The plane, operated by British Midland Airlines, was attempting to land at the East Midlands Airport, located in Leicestershire, close to the village of Kegworth.
		There is a memorial to "those who died, those who were injured and those who took part in the rescue operation", in the village cemetery in nearby Kegworth, together with a garden made using soil from the crash site.

		Kegworth (pronounced locally as "Keggoth" or "kegg-wuth") is a village on the River Soar, Leicestershire, England.
		A date cannot be put on the foundations of the first settlement, although Anglo-Saxon burials have been found in Kingston-On-Soar and at Hathern, a pin of the 7th century was also found near the Hermitage which may indicate the date and location of the earliest settlers.
		Kegworth was part of the Rural district of Castle Donington until 1974 when it became part of the District of North West Leicestershire, whose administrative centre is located at Coalville.
