Rabaab is a very ancient instrument found primarily in Afghanistan but in India is common in Kashmir.
It is a hollowed-out body of wood with a membrane stretched over the opening.

By Fakir Hassen, Johannesburg, May 25 : Indian sarod maestro Gulfam Ahmed Khan and his troupe took time off from a tour of South Africa to host a workshop for locals here in playing the ancient stringed instrument and the tabla.
Students of the Gujarati community's Shree Bharat Sharda Mandir School and members of the public were enthralled by the advice from the troupe, which also gave a demonstration of the Afghan instrument rabaab, which is similar to the sarod.
Raju Kala, a classical music enthusiast and distributor of classical CDs, told IANS it was a refreshing change to hear the sarod and rabaab because usually it was mainly the flute and stringed instruments which were heard in South Africa.

Each of the Sikh Guru’s performed Kirtan and placed much importance on this mode of worship and most Shabads in Sri Guru Granth Sahib have been written in a musical tune called Raag, there are 31 Raags that have been used throughout Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Traditionally Kirtan was sung using string instruments such as the Rabaab but nowadays Kirtan is commonly performed using the Harmonium and the Tabla.
This musical form of worship entices the listener to both the musical talents of the Ragee (Kirtan performer) and the enlightening teachings of Gurbani.

I was glad to see that Kuwaiti television did not censor out the parts about Kazem and his songs in the Syrian drama series being aired on KTV (alfosool al arba3a).
As for the Eid concert, as I heard, it's being promoted as mainly a Kazem event, with Nawal and Rabaab as participants.
My step sister and her husband will be attending.
