Sherbrooke (2001 population: 75,916; post-merger population: 141,200) is a city in south-eastern Quebec, Canada, the only major city in the Eastern Townships.
Sherbrooke is home to a concrete truss bridge, the first of its kind in the world.
The area of Sherbrooke was first settled in 1793 by American Loyalists, including Gilbert Hyatt, a farmer from Schenectady, New York, who built a flour mill in 1802.

The Université de Sherbrooke is a large university with three distinct campuses, two of which are located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and another, which is located in Longueuil, approximately 170 km west of Sherbrooke.
It is one of two universities in the region, and the only French-language university in the Eastern Townships region of Quebec.
The Université de Sherbrooke was also the first university to offer an MBA (Master of Business Administration) program in French, the first in Canada to provide a master's degree in taxation and the first in Quebec to provide a bachelor's degree in management with a co-op component.
