I'm a British residing in Sliven for the time being and I can assure all of you the mountain villages (terrible to pronounce!) north of town are splendid with 19th century architecture preserved and sceneries worth seeing.
People in Sliven tell me the place has been done up, but it is not of the museum type of town - nevertheless, Sliven offers a great scope for photographic activities especially in summer.
