Wage slavery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wage slavery is a term used to refer to a condition in which a person is legally (de jure) voluntarily employed but practically (de facto) a slave.
In terms used by critics of capitalism, wage slavery is the condition where a person must sell his or her labor power, submitting to the authority of an employer merely to subsist.
Wage slavery as a concept is a criticism of capitalism, defined as a condition when a capitalist minority of the population controls all of the necessary non-human components of production (capital and land) that other people (workers) use to produce goods.

Wage slavery is a term expressing disapproval of a condition where a person feels compelled to work in return for payment of a wage.
Instead, wage slavery is embodied in the institution of property ownership and the “master/slave” relationship emerges from the concentration of property in the hands of particular individuals.
Another difference between wage slavery and chattel slavery is that many individuals who might be categorized as “wage slaves” are not impoverished, and they could, in theory, overcome their wage slave status by investing in lucrative property of their own (assuming they have enough money to do so).

Living wage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This concept differs from the minimum wage in that the latter is set by law and may fail to meet the requirements of a living wage.
In Australia, the 1908 Harvester Judgment ruled that an employer was obliged to pay his employees a wage that guaranteed them a standard of living which was reasonable for "a human being in a civilised community," regardless of his capacity to pay.
Critics of living wage ordinances assert that the government should not intervene in the marketplace because even well intentioned interventions are usually detrimental to the economy as a whole.

 The White Slave Traffic
To assume that the recent investigation of the white slave traffic by George Kibbe Turner and others (and by the way, a very superficial investigation), has discovered anything new is, to say the least, very foolish.
Certainly that is more practical a method than the one used by the modern wage slave in society.
These poor ignorant girls, in their undeveloped state, with their shawls about their heads, look much too unattractive to even the most stupid man. It therefore follows that before they can be made fit for business, they, too, must be Americanized, which would require not merely a week or a month, but considerable time.

Workfare -- Slave Labor U.S. Style
Workfare slave labor is one more fascist weapon in the bosses' arsenal to prepare us for a war to save their profit system.
Workfare slave labor is a product of capitalism in crisis, another way the bosses hope to lay the burden of their insoluble crisis on the backs of the working class.
In this smoldering fire of class struggle against slave labor, the working classes' biggest victory will be the building of a revolutionary movement and party that will destroy workfare's cause -- capitalism -- with the only society that can create a decent life for all workers -- communism.

freshmeat.net: Editorials - The Intellectual Property Wage Slave, or Why You Should Quit Your Job
Wages and debt go hand in hand, for creditors only make loans which can be repaid regularly.
The wage slavery of intellectual property workers therefore has as much to do with the requisites of servicing debt as it does the soft comfort of a regular paycheck.
It is a bittersweet tale of modern capitalism that so many should, under pressures of debt, dispose of their freedom and leverage, so sacrificing the gains of their labors almost entirely to one who, through prudence or happy circumstance, finds himself to have the time and disposition to form a new endeavor.

"Wage slavery is the state where you are unable to perceive choices and create courses of action different from the grind of the job."

 Wage Slave
At the dawn of capitalism, critical thinkers (economists, philosophers and political dissidents) maintained that selling oneself for a wage was entirely equivalent to chattel slavery and so were not averse to naming the practice WageSlavery.
By using half truths, cliches and emotionally charged statements (eg to suggest that factory workers are worse off than slaves shows so little knowledge of the real cruelty inflicted on slaves, it is obscene), you're almost conceding that you don't have any real arguments.

You still make progress in small increments, there is minimal frustration as the penalties for failure are minimal, no frantic quick-saving is required (or possible), and except when you're close to finishing a mission, you can come and go at your discretion.
