In this case, the attacks got ugly, only because she expected that an encyclopedia was a place to go to get correct information on a subject.
So, it is one thing to allow the posting of any point of view by internet denziens, and it is quite another to call that process an encyclopedia on par with Brittanica or others.
Dynamism is a point of view that embraces multiculturality, individual choice and the open society, even if it means uncertainity of the future and losing the privilege of the state to plan the society.

 wikipedians: A Wikipedia "Pearl Harbor"...
A lot of people and organizations download the database regularly (I have a month-old copy of it myself that I was using for searches, as do many other wikipedians, I'm sure.)
Some wikipedians believe that a wiki simply can't grow too large before it becomes hopelessly unmanageable.
I think that as long as the rate of taking ownership for articles grows at a similar pace, we have enough eyeballs to keep it running.

For those of you who aren't familiar with wikipedia, or, if you read pages from it sometimes, but haven't been involved with its editing, or even if you are a veteran wikipedian who is curious as to the reaction of a new member, I am going to share my experiences and observations.
If any wikipedian considers an article to be deficient, they can nominate it for deletion by editing the page itself to add a deletion notice and by listing it on the Votes for Deletion (VfD) page.
Then, concerned/interested wikipedians add their vote and some sort of justification (using the term very liberally) to the VfD page, and, when rough consesus is achieved, the group-preferred action is taken.

Ground Zero, at least last week, was Frankfurt, Germany, site of Wikimania, the first global gathering of the self-styled ‘wikipedians’ who collectively are well on their way to the goal of providing free online encyclopedias in every language on earth.
Although the wikipedians continued to ignore commerce and filthy lucre, commercial entities couldn’t help but notice that something was going on.
That trust–along with the core value of NPOV, or “neutral point of view” that wikipedians insist on in their edit model–has thus far been an absolute defense against any corrosion or corruption of their values.

The surprise: I’ve been under the impression that there’s a simmering conflict between bloggers and wikipedians.
Bloggers tend to be building their personal brands; wikipedians tend to follow a self-effacing, monastic model of knowledge.
I was surprised and pleased to see bloggers and wikipedians find common ground so quickly around common passions.
